Can you guess what today's post will be about!? Yes! All things Harry Potter!
This little trip could not have come at a better time. The kids are off for 2 days for spring student-led conferences at school. I scheduled their conferences for Thursday morning and then we were off for a 3 day weekend. We've been to London once as a family, but didn't get to go to the new Warner Bros studio tour where they filmed the Harry Potter movies for 10 years.. so i knew I wanted to go back. The hubs has never read the books, so it was a special treat for me to take the kids by ourselves. AND It came on the heels of excellent conferences for both of them so it was a great reward for their hard work this year. They had NO idea and it was such fun to wake them up and tell them we're leaving THIS MORNING!
* Few things I should note:
1. We're not Harry Potter super fans. So if you are, I'm sorry in advance for any mis-information or lack of detail. ;) I enjoyed the books when they came out before I even had kids and was thrilled to share them with both of them. I watched my first movie the night before we left, and the kids have seen several as well..
2. BIG thanks to my UK friends that helped me pre-plan and feel confident about taking the train to the studio (which is outside the city). They saved us MUCH time and I now have it typed it all out and have already shared with another mom that's going next month. So I'm paying it forward!
3. Of course we had to go to a show while in London, so we saw the Lion King (which they LOVED) and ate at Wahaca (which we DEVOURED) :) Please go there if you're an expat and are missing Mexican food like we do! If you're not an expat, eat fish and chips or curry instead. You're in London! ;)
4. I teared up many times during this visit. It was the same feeling I got when we took them to Disney for the first time. It's just so fun to see them so excited and taking it all in, on their level.
One of my favorite memories of Disney was when the kids were watching an outdoor show at the castle and they were asked to raise their hands and say "I believe, I believe" so that Mickey could come back.. I looked over and saw K with his hands raised and his little mouse ears on.. and yep.. had to wipe away some tears..
