Hi there! This is Allison from állie la mode where I serve as a Wardrobe Consultant and Personal Shopper in Brussels. I was so thrilled when Mackenzie asked me to guest post on her blog while she takes sail on a Baltic cruise.
With the summer breeze transitioning to fall, it’s time to rotate the seasonal items to prepare for the cooler temperatures ahead. Rest assured that packing for grey skies does not translate to a suitcase of dull outfits! This fashion season carries forward the colors of summer along with the layering trend that will allow you to add or remove various pieces depending on the weather.
Before the packing begins, let’s keep in mind two fashion ground rules: one, your days will be filled with walking many cobblestone sidewalks and two, rain may join you as an uninvited travel companion. Bonus part – you can look comfortable and polished while traveling! Here are a few of my favorite pieces to achieve a travel appropriate wardrobe minus any excess baggage fees.
· Hooded Jacket || a trench can easily transition from day to night and shield the rain
· Boyfriend Blazer || a perfect fall topper to pair with skinny pants over a blouse or tee
· Dark Stretch Skinny Jean || more polished than leggings yet a comfortable staple
· Colored Pant || from brick red, royal blue or black – a great option for an evening out
· Tee Variety || a ideal layering piece, include a mix of long, short and sleeveless options
· Cardigan Sweater || wear under a jacket or as a standalone for an outer layer
· Tunic Blouse || counteract the length of the top with a slim bottom
· Sophisticated Blouse || select a print, texture or color to wear solo or layer
· Tall Flat Leather Boots || wear these baby’s on the plane as a space saver
· Flat Oxford or Sneaker || a foot and eye friendly option for covering kilometers of ground
· Wrap Scarf || a versatile accessory to add a pop of color or keep warm on a chilly day
· Bold Jewelry || accessories take up minimal space and can turn a basic outfit – chic
· Belt-It || synch the waist of a tunic, blazer or cardigan for a streamlined look
· Cross-Body Bag || remain hands-free for pictures and place over the shoulder for evening
