more from greece

Updated: Jan 31, 2023

A little back-story for you. My husband and I love to travel together. It's our "love language" if you've read that book.. unfortunately, unlike the other languages (affirmation, gifts, service, etc..) we only get away once a year by ourselves, so we gotta make it count =) The best trips for us are adventurous and varied. We love to explore together and go along for the ride, wherever that may be. Greece has sparked some interest for some time for both of us.. a good mix of ocean, history, and adventure. We've been to Western Europe a few times, saving a trip to Italy for itself, so we thought we'd do the same for Greece. We were NOT disappointed.

First stop was Athens. Probably a day too long here, but it was a nice transition city while we adjusted to the time change. We were in the ancient part of town and enjoyed seeing ruins at every turn. The above is of the acropolis/parthenon just as we walked along the city below. Here's an ancient church just below the acropolis. another view on a hike we made one afternoon ancient cobblestone path in athens.. the history-major in me totally geeked out here =) the famous sunsets in oia, santorini. Half the island would gather in this village and clap when it finished. It was a neat, collective experience. the cliff-side cave houses of santorini. all dressed up one night in oia. We ate at a fabulous restaurant there called 1800. finding a little more color in crete.. chania is a charming port town that was a joy to wander around our final day, we drove to the west coast to Elaphanissi beach, home to it's famous pink sand.

thanks again for looking! We'll see if I can keep this up =)
